How long can panic attack symptoms last?

Pandaa! asked:

For a while now, I’ve had classic panic attack symptoms, but no panic attacks (well, i can bet i’ve had few and just didn’t know that they were panic attacks). A while, actually, meaning a few months (since I started practicing for my first solo voice recital).
I’ve had a shortness of breath, random pains (chest area especially–but not just heart area), nausea, and just plain exhaustion, palpitations/rapid heart beat and shaking. But not all of them all at once.

So my question is, can you have panic attack symptoms with just a high anxiety level? And how long do the symptoms last?

Oh, and I had a panic attack last night. ):

help with panic attack symptoms! PLEASE?

Emilyb538 asked:

hi , i need help! for the past 3 months i have been experiencing panic attacks about weekly. i already have mild hypertension, but my current meds (low dose even) ususally keep it about 115/70. and i monitor it frequently. when i have an “attack” my blood pressure goes up to around (150-160) over (110-130). HR:100-130 my cardiologist has ruled out any secondary cause to my hypertension. once i had one that lasted for 2 days. when they come on, i take a xanax and a little extra dose of my bp meds. it’s so scary. i feel all of the classic symptoms i have researched. what i really need to know is , can a panic attack cause such a high rise in bp or even last so long? is that possible, or is it atypical? i’d feel better if i knew the answer.. thank you , emily 25year old female
thanks, bob, but i’m scared i,m going to have a stroke with a diastolic pressure of 120-130! does anyone else’s bp go up this high?

Would these symptoms be categorized as heart attack symptoms or panic attack symptoms?

Patrick asked:

I’m personally a bit scared as of right now because I can’t figure out the difference between heart attack warning symptoms and panic attack symptoms. You see, I’ve been having a quick, sharp pain in my chest ever since I woke up. I woke up at 9:02 am central time. It goes away but comes back every hour or so. Now I’ve been trying to calm myself down and say it’s nothing but for a couple of days now I’ve been dizzy, my left arm has been having muscle spasms, my face has been feeling like it’s swollen, more or less meaning there’s a lot of discomfort, and now I’m having a pain in my left shoulder/ upper arm. Please, can someone possibly tell me what’s going on? I’m only 18, I shouldn’t be feeling like this, should I?

How do I control a panic attack?

Are these panic attack symptoms – please help?

Hi,

Two days ago, when exercising, there were points where it was hard to catch my breath, where I would have to take deep breaths as if I was yawning.

Two days later, I woke up several times during the night with the same feeling… as if I HAD to keep yawning until I caught my breath. I felt better for a few minutes after I caught my breath, and then the feeling kept on coming back.

Are these symptoms of panic attacks? Any ideas what this can be and how to fix it?

Thanks.

Doesn’t really sound like panic attacks but definitely something you need to see a doctor about.

can someone have panic attack symptoms throughout the day.?

Like headaches and blurred vision without having a complete attack. My daughter has these problems but sometimes not all the symptoms. She is 9.

Panic attacks are sudden feelings of terror that strike without warning. These episodes can occur at any time, even during sleep. A person experiencing a panic attack may believe that he or she is having a heart attack or that death is imminent. The fear and terror that a person experiences during a panic attack are not in proportion to the true situation and may be unrelated to what is happening around them. Most people with panic attacks experience several of the following symptoms:
•"Racing" heart
•Feeling weak, faint, or dizzy
•Tingling or numbness in the hands and fingers
•Sense of terror, of impending doom or death
•Feeling sweaty or having chills
•Chest pains
•Breathing difficulties
•Feeling a loss of control

what are the symptoms of a panic attack?

i think i had a panic attack…but i want to make sure it wasnt something else…can anyone give me any information?

Negative emotions (like sadness, stress, anger, etc.) causes your Serotonin production to be low; when your Serotonin level is low, you are more prone to getting Anxiety, Panic Attacks, Depression, etc.

Medication like Antidepressants (SSRI – Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor) helps to boost Serotonin level.
But there are natural ways to do it without medication. There’s this herb called "St John’s Wort" – it is said to be more effective than Prozac. No, it is not for mild depression only and ignore those sayings. In fact, it does help anxiety and panic-attacks as St John’s Wort works like prozac. Other natural ways will be exercise, diet, more exposure to light, etc.
If you’re unable to take St John’s Wort, you can substitute it with Siberian Ginseng or Licorice Herb.

The problem is that, even if your Serotonin is balanced… you have that "learned behavior" in your mind. You need to break that initial cycle to destroy that learned behavior – Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) does this. A technique that you can use without CBT will be Distraction… There are several other techniques to help cope them!
Ok, to use Distraction: Firstly, try to….

Don’t make fun of me. You’ve had this experience too. You were just a little more quiet and you didn’t roll it on tape.
